Arlington Update

11/2/01
It almost doesn't seem worth writing a newsletter, since we have nothing really new to report (and we're hesitant to just send out a mass mailing for its own sake), but here's the Arlington Update. On October 19th the Department of State decided to extend the authorized departure in Yemen for another 30 days. We have no idea what will happen at that point--could be another 30 days. However, for now we know that we are here through Thanksgiving (if they reopen, we'll take a couple days' annual leave to pack up and depart just after the holiday).

Michael continues his work in the State Department. The Task Force has been more-or-less disbanded, but Michael is still working to transition some of the work that the Task Force coordinated over to another office that has been given responsibility for managing the coalition against terrorism. On Monday, he'll probably have a new (temporary) job, but it's not clear what that will be yet. We'll keep you posted.

Meanwhile, Jen was bored silly with the things she was being given to do at the Amideast headquarters, so she quit, but she's still planning on working for them in Yemen (insha'allah). Now she's entertaining herself with a wheel pottery class, some knitting projects, visits with our niece and friends, and a couple of minor work projects.

By the way, Jen's brother David ran the Marine Corps Marathon (his first!) on Oct. 28 and we've got a slideshow on the web site (www.kolodner.com) with pictures for anyone who's interested. Way to go David!

Michael's brother Louis is moving to DC. He just got a job as the Associate Director of B'nai Brith's Camp Perlman and starts next week. He got a great studio apartment in Adams-Morgan and is ready to live in the heart of DC's nightlife.

Well, that's all the news from DC.
