life from a to z

We are overjoyed to announce the birth of our beautiful son, Arden Ezri Kolodner.
Date of birth: April 29, 2003
Time: 5:30 am
Weight: 8 pounds 7 ounces
Length: 21 inches
Location: Virginia Hospital Center at Arlington (aka Arlington Hospital)

We're sure you have a lot of questions for us- here are some of the ones we can predict!
    •     Is he named after anyone?

In the Jewish tradition of naming a baby after departed loved ones, we decided to name him after our maternal grandmothers, two very special women who have shaped our lives and those of our families in untold ways.

A is for Anita, Michael's maternal grandmother (Ellen Kolodner's mother).

E is for Evelyn, Jennifer's maternal grandmother (Wendy Muchnick's mother).

    •     Why does the name "Arden" sound familiar?

You may recall that Michael proposed to Jen in front of an audience at the Arden Theater in Philadelphia on November 28, 1997. For more on that adventure, click here.

    •     What does his name mean?

Arden means "fiery" or "ardent" and purports to be an Old English name.

Ezri means "my helper" in Hebrew.

(We've already gotten comments that, with that name, he's bound to be a fireman.)

    •     Who does he look like?

There's quite a bit of discussion/argument on that point. People are changing opinions hourly. Short answer: Both parents.
    •     How is Jen feeling?

Tired, but recovering rapidly.
    •     How is Michael feeling?

Tired and elated. It's been a long time since he pulled an all-nighter!
    •     When/where is the bris?

The bris (circumcision ceremony, for those non-Jewish readers out there) will be held at Congregation Agudas Achim in Alexandria, Virginia, on Tuesday, May 6th at 4pm. If you are planning to attend, please send us an email or call us.
